Good afternoon!

After the craziness of last week, all I wanted to do this week was sit around and do a whole lot of nothing haha So I've spent my week reading and painting :)

Adore that last New York watercolour. Gorgeous! And that leopard lady is so fabulous :)

I hope you've all had a lovely week! And have a happy weekend!!!!

Good evening!

I normally don't post so many 'Wise Words' in a row, but what can I say? The people of pinterest are finding some awesometastic stuff!

And this bedding is just divine! Black and white and spots! So perfect to curl up in when the weather outside is frightful :)

Hope you're having a lovely week!

Accept the Quirks

Dec 27, 2011

Good evening!

It finally snowed!!! There is a lovely little blanket of white goodness on the ground :) Not much, but just enough to cover the grass and give the bushes their winter coat.

Right now, I love it! Come February, I probably won't as much haha But it's par for the course when you live in Canada. And since I can't change it, might as well learn to like it :)

A thought struck me the other day during a conversation with my mom and grandma.  Someone had asked my mom if we do this every year, and we have. Every year since before I was born. Some years people have been missing, but never more than one or two. And I realized that although our family has it's problems, all families have their issues, and I don't think I'd trade mine for anyone's. I love our little dysfunctions and quirks. They're ours, and I wouldn't change one thing :)

I hope you've had a very happy holiday!

Day After

Dec 26, 2011

Good evening!

Just like that, it all ends. The craziness of the last week is finally over and my real holiday begins :)

After all the people and places I've seen over the past few days, I need to be antisocial for a while haha That probably sounds strange, but I'm an introvert, so while I love my friends and family, too much of them is where my limit ends. Tomorrow I have nothing planned and I hope to read my book and catch up on some blogs and sit by a fire and drink some tea :) And then I'll be ready to tackle whatever else happens on my holiday!

I hope you have had a fabulous holiday!

White Christmas

Dec 25, 2011

Merry Christmas!!!!!

I had a lovely day with my family this morning and my mom's family this evening (my dad's side was last night). Lots of food and tea and lovely presents under the tree :)

It was not a white Christmas here, but I thought some beautiful white images might invite the snow to fall! Maybe it will be a white boxing day haha

Snow Flurries
Eight Nesting Lotus Bowls
Wild Horses
Snowflake Pillow
White Bracelet
Winter Birch
Cable Knit Letterpress Coasters
Snowflake
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! (Or a happy holiday if you celebrate something else!!)

Wishing you and you families all the very best!

Thankyou For

Dec 24, 2011

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Bit of an odd collection of images, but hopefully they will make sense in a minute. I love the colour palette of soft greys and silvers; I love and appreciate all things gold, but I think I will always be a silver girl.

Christmastime seems to always bring out the crazy. Whether it's a relative or the hoards of people shopping, and people often have a hard time this time of year. And if you do, remember the good. And be thankful for it. Because you are most likely so so blessed in so many ways you take for granted.

The three photos above are what I wish for you this Christmas:

Be thankful for what you have. Dress with style. And decorate with what you love.

I hope you have a Merry Merry Christmas :)

Always Be Thankful

Dec 23, 2011

Hello again friends!!

I've missed you! These past few days have been long, but my grandpa's funeral today was lovely. It really was a celebration of a life well-lived. So many friends and family came out and it was wonderful to hear the stories of my grandpa throughout his life.

This week was certainly not what I was expecting to come home to after exams, but it's been so fun to spend so much time with my cousins, who are usually spread all over the country. We'll be gathering again tomorrow for Christmas Eve as well, so by the end, I think I'll have seen some of my family more in this one week than I have in the past year.

This passage was read three times today, in a different version every time. It was an unplanned, but lovely accident.  I just wanted to share it here as well.

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.  Therefore encourage one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

I did also want to thank you all again for the absolutely wonderful messages you sent. I have not had a chance to reply, but I was so touched by your kind words. Please know that they did not go unappreciated. Thankyou so much.

I hope you have all had a lovely week and I'll be back tomorrow :)

In Heaven

Dec 20, 2011

Dear friends,

I cannot thankyou enough for the kind words you have left this week. You truly are some of the most amazing people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I want to give each and every one of you a big hug! You are truly so kind and I feel so very blessed.

My grandfather passed away yesterday. It was not a surprise or a shock, he was very sick for the last 4 or 5 years, and the doctors did not think he would pull through this time. We were to an extent, prepared for the news, but it is still very sad, especially for my grandma. However, he is no longer suffering in this world and has gone to join his Lord in heaven, so that is indeed a blessing for him.

The next few days will be busy with planning and sorting, with visitations and funeral later in the week. I was so looking forward to catching up on all your blogs this week after the stress of exams, but that will once again have to wait until after Christmas.

I chose the image below for this post because birch trees surround our family cottage, and I just though it was such a fitting photo, looking up into the heavens.

"In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." John 14:2-4

"But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body." Philippians 3:20-21

I hope you spend your holidays with the people you love most (and make sure to tell them so!)

Line It Up

Dec 19, 2011

Good evening!

My daily makeup routine 'rut' as of late has involved a plain lid with a thick black winged eyeliner. Super classy and chic, and it's even mother-approved haha And I've been wearing it so much that I've got my system down pat :)

Sometimes it's nice to not have to think about your makeup because you know what looks good. I'll definitely be pulling out this look over the holidays! Do you have a look that you've been wearing a lot too?

Hope you had a happy Monday!!

Minty Fresh

Dec 18, 2011

Thankyou to those who left their thoughts & prayers after yesterdays post. They are all so very appreciated. My grandpa has not been well for a long time now, but it looks as though his time is close. It is not unexpected, but it is still very sad for us all, especially my grandma, who has taken extraordinary care of him these last few years. If you have a moment to spare, I would be so grateful for any kind thoughts or prayers you could send her way.

Good evening!

Turquoise-blue has been a favourite colour of mine for a long time, and after finding a few of the items below, I knew they would make a fabulous Etsy collection. And it's festive without being obvious, non?

Mint Green Prom Dress
Kit Tea Cat Mug
Mint Green Bag
Mint Green Poppy Pods
French Keys
Mint Green Church
Mint Green Velvet Earrings
Magnolia Tree
I love that Kit Tea Cat Mug, just too cute. And those magnolia flowers are lovely.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

A Lady

Dec 17, 2011

Good evening friends!

I apologize for yet another quick post, but I did quite like this photo and quote. Very appropriate for the holidays :)

I was given some sad news yesterday, and while I don't want to say too much yet, any thoughts or prayers you could spare for my family would be very much appreciated.

I hope you're having a lovely weekend!

Friday Favourites, Pretty Edition

Dec 16, 2011

Good evening!

I am officially done and it feels fabulous! So glad to be home for the holidays :)

Just a quick little Friday Favourites this evening!

The image below is from one of my favourite beauty/fashion blogs, Buy Now Blog Later. Laura did a post on her 'routine rut' of makeup, and I definitely have a makeup 'rut' of late, but I love it and don't plan on changing it anytime soon. Sometimes sticking to what works is the best :) Her blog is just fabulous by the way, a must read if you love beautiful things.

Leigh has been doing some gorgeous 'Mental Getaway' posts. Below is her Paris one, but there is also a Korea post as well. Both beautiful and fabulous!

And Christine did a fabulous sparkly post today for Friday Fancies. Absolutely perfect for this holiday season!

I hope you all have a lovey weekend!

Good evening!

I am one paragraph away from finishing my semester!!! Just have to write the concluding paragraph for my essay and I am donezo! Soooooo excited!!!! :D

Going home for Christmas tomorrow and I have the next three weeks to spend some time relaxing with the famjam, eating way too much, and working on a few little projects :)

And I most definitely plan to get my sparkle on for the holidays. Been living in sweatpants and hoodies and cozy sweaters the past few days hahaha

Hope you're having a lovely week!!

Distant & Magical

Dec 14, 2011

Good evening!

After a busy day, there is nothing more magical than dreaming of a faraway place to lay my head for the night :)

I have a little wanderlust pinboard if you like to dream too :)

Hope your week is going well!!

Trust

Dec 13, 2011

Good evening!

I actually pulled all the images for this post last week, but it was gold week so I couldn't share it then. Seems even more appropriate now with Tangerine Tango being the colour of the year and all :)

With the end of this semester so very close, the realization that I have ONE semester left of university blows my mind. In some ways, I don't feel very different from the young 17-year old that started 3 years ago, but in other ways, I know I've changed a lot. With graduation less than 6 months away, thoughts of what to do after have started spinning. It doesn't help that so so many people have been asking me what I'm going to do.

But I'm going to pray & trust that God has a plan for me and it's going to be pretty awesome :)

Hope your week is going well friends! Any advice to give on this strange transition time in life?

B
