Neutrals & Brights

Jan 31, 2012

Good evening!

I decided to do my little bit on IDS tomorrow, so today is a compilation of interiors & fashion. Two lovely things that go oh-so well together :) I haven't done a room-to-outfit post in a long long time, and they're so much fun!

I definitely tend to wear a lot of neutrals (or you know, just a lot of grey. I have a grey sweater in every shade/style possible. And I love them all.), but I do love me some brights. It probably is just a seasonal thing, as I do tend to wear more brights in the summer and neutrals in the winter.

Dang. Can it be summer already? I want that whole outfit. Or just a kelly green pencil skirt. I'd live with that.

Hope your day went well!!

Perfume Pretties

Jan 30, 2012

Good evening!

I was going to post about IDS today, but it was a loonngg day and my thoughts are just too muddled now. So pretty things it is :)

I love to display my pretty things, using jewelry or nail polish or anything sparkly really, as decor. And perfume bottles definitely fit the bill!

And I'm really hoping that little pretty above will make its way to my collection sometime soon :)

What perfume are you loving lately?

Friday Favourites, Alt Edition

Jan 27, 2012

Good evening!

I feel like the photo below encompasses my love of tea haha and chocolate biscuits :)

via
And with the weather we've been having, a cup of tea is a lovely thing!! Here are some of my faves this week!

I read a few Alt Recaps, but Jen from Rambling Renovators had my favourite. I'm already saving up for Alt 2013!

Camille  of Camille Styles had a fantastic roundup of the best business cards from Alt! They're all gorgeous!

And for your daily dose of sparkle, be sure to check out The Vault Files post on using your jewelry as decor!

Hope you have a lovely weekend! Will I see anyone at IDS tomorrow??

Meta

Jan 26, 2012

Good evening!

Today's post is one that I've been meaning to write for over a week now.

You see, in the fourth year of my program, we put on a final year show. Those involved with the art community might have heard of it, as it's had the same name for the past 3-4 years.

I was chosen at the beginning of the semester to be one of the curators of the show. My official designations are Catalogue Coordinator and Project Manager/Treasurer. (We have another PM who deals with people issues while I deal with money issues haha) Since September, we've definitely had our ups and downs. I was not originally the Treasurer, but after our first Treasurer left the team, I took over the responsibility.

Our venue for the show is the fabulous Airship 37 in the Distillery District. And we have several sponsors lined up, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to publicly discuss them yet. But they're all fabulous companies!

We are SO excited about this show! But at the moment, a mere two months from opening, we are having some difficulties. This year, our venue cost alone is way over the total budgets of previous years. And that doesn't include any of our printing/food/promotion/etc costs.

So I am writing this post for two reasons today. First, if you live in the Toronto area and would like to attend, I would like to invite you!! The show runs from March 29-31, and there will be more information closer to the date. I would absolutely LOVE if you could come!! (You can email me or leave a comment if you'd like more info :) )

Second, I would like to ask if you are in any way able to help with any sort of donation, I would love you to the moon and back! Even if you could spare $5, it would be an huge help. We have a Go Fund Me page, as well as a paypal account I believe. Or if you own or know someone who owns a company and would like to help, we do have a sponsorship package that I can send you. There's lots of perks to being a Meta Sponsor :) Even if all you can do is spread the word, I will be forever grateful!

Well, with that awkward paragraph out of the way, let's talk about some fun side of Meta! haha

Meta is going to be BADASS. Seriously. We have 30+ artists vying for a spot in the show, and the stuff they're creating is friggin' awesome. They blow my mind at their critiques. The level of work put into these projects is astounding and I cannot fathom the time and energy they put in. The full website is launching in a few weeks, and you can check it out right here. I'll link it again when it launches :)

So yeah...just wanted to let you guys know what I've been up to and why I've been so bad at blog-reading lately haha This show is taking up a lot of time! But it will be SO worth it in the end :)

I hope you are all having a fabulous week and have a lovely Friday!!!

Faux Fur Vest + Blue Clutch

Jan 25, 2012

Good evening!

I had a sweet post idea all about fur vests. (Faux of course.) I got one for Christmas and I lurve it. I think I might even wear it to the blogger meetup this weekend!

But then Pinterest was being mean and not letting me find all the fabulous images I wanted to find. Sigh.

At least I did have this picture of the fab Olivia Palermo wearing one :)

And wouldn't that little blue number go STUNNINGLY with some fur? My vest is pretty light in tone. Someone told me it looked like rabbit. But it is 70% acrylic and 30% polyester haha No rabbits were harmed for my vest! Although I can't be sure about Palermo's...

Hope you are having a lovely lovely week!! I know a lot of you are going to IDS on Friday for BlogPodium, which I can't attend because of my silly 9-12 class, but is anyone going on Saturday??

Four Posters + Curtains

Jan 24, 2012

What do you get when you mix sumptuous curtains and four poster beds?

+

Some stunningly gorgeous bedrooms!!

That last image is probably my favourite of all time. I adore the colour scheme and those puddling panels just kill me. I'm just swooning over here! So luxurious.

I recently put up some curtains in my bedroom at home, since the room would not accommodate four poster curtains :( The curtains are perfect, if just a few inches short. So I have a DIY planned :) If I can't have beautiful curtains over my bed, at least I can have them on my window.

And I will continue to dream of four poster curtains...

Loving Ombre

Jan 23, 2012

I still love it. I really do.

I had 'accidental ombre' a couple years ago when I tried to dye my hair a few shades lighter and it turned super brassy so I let it grow out, thus the unintentional ombre. But now I really want some on-purpose ombre.

Maybe not like, bleached ends, but more subtle, like Kate Beckinsale's hair in these photos. Just some lighter ends. Maybe even more ombre highlights than ombre hair.

Am I totally crazy? Is ombre super uncool now? Would you think I was totally lame? Let me know before I commit!

Winter Escape

Jan 22, 2012

Good evening!

With these dark evenings and cold nights, one of my favourite things to do is curl up and read or watch some TV. This little corner looks like a lovely and cozy spot :)

Is there a book or show you're loving lately? Would love some suggestions :)

Friday Favourites, The Grey Edition

Jan 20, 2012

Good evening!

Danielle of Breakfast at Toast shared her home office & kitchen on her blog this week and it is so so lovely! I had to pin this image of her office :) I love her pinboard and the autographed Loubotin lid is fabulous!!

Stoffer Photography for Rue Magazine

Last week, Anne-Marie shared a breakdown of ever shade of grey & greige and everything in between over on 10 Rooms. She broke down how grey & beige work, and how to choose what colour is best for your space :)

Elizabeth's BAM or SLAM series on The Mustard Ceiling is one of my favourites, and I usually always BAM her trends. But hooved furniture? It kind of creeps me out a little haha And I have to admit, I've never really noticed it before!!

Alexa of The Short and The Sweet Of It posted this pretty roundup the other day, and I must agree, it is just lovely!! Layered neutral mixes are always a hit with me :)

I hope you've had a lovely week and have a happy weekend!!

Stampa & Sara Singh

Jan 19, 2012

Good evening!

I came across a fabulous website the other day, Stampa. And what they do is feature a series of artists every single week. The artists work is available to buy for only 4 weeks, but there is no limit to how many prints can be bought in those 4 weeks.

Once I discovered Stampa, I went along and browsed around, but my scrolling and clicking stopped short when I found the work of Sara Singh.

Watercolour, silhouettes, fashion illustrations??? Everything I love :)

You obsessed now too?? There's way more of her work on Stampa, you can click here to check it out. There's also 3 other artists currently being featured on Stampa, so you should check out their work too :)

I think that first print (Backdrop) might need to find it's way to my room. Like, ASAP.

Hope your week is going well!!!

Spot On

Jan 18, 2012

Good evening!

Leopard is one of my favourite prints. And I have decided I do not have enough of it in my life. Need much much more :) And these photos shall be my inspiration:

I have one pair of leopard flats, but I really do need some leopard heels. And a clutch. And a belt. And maybe a sweater too.

Can you ever have too much leopard?

Styling Frames

Jan 17, 2012

Good evening!

I know I've done several posts before this on how much I adore gallery walls & collections of frames, but there really is an art to displaying frames. Whether on the wall or on a ledge, beautifully mixed and styled frames add such a sophistication to a room. They fill it up without making it appear cramped. And they let you show off your favourite things from behind their protective glass.

Frames, whether empty or filled, are one of my favourite accessories. You can see more on my pinboard here.

Do you have a favourite way to style your frames?

Nailed It

Jan 16, 2012

Good evening!

Over the weekend, I made the discovery of primacreative.tumblr.com. The tumblr of Christina Rinaldi of Prima Creative, her tumblr shows off her amazing nail art, as well as inspiring fashiony things. Serisously though, girl knows her way around a bottle of polish. And most of her designs are based upon fashion items, like a pair of shoes, or a patterned outfit. I even saw a pink lightbulb manicure.

Pretty cool, eh?

Hope your week is off to a lovely start!!
