Bold, Italic, or Regular

Because couldn't we all use a little pep talk on a Monday?

Be bold friends! (or italic :) )

ps, I'm away again this week! I'll be at camp for a few days, and then off to my best friend's to trial hair & makeup :D I'm so excited! I've got a few posts scheduled, but if I'm not replying to your emails, you'll know why :) Hope you have a great week!

Playing Small

The quote above is not new - the whole quote can be found here - but it's been swirling around in my mind lately.

See, I bought a new computer last week. Compared to my current laptop, this new desktop is huge. I've been setting it up and sorting out, but I don't have Photoshop on it yet. Since I use Photoshop everyday,  I'm still using my old laptop.

I'm kind of anxious/scared/afraid to switch everything over to the new computer. On some level (and I know this is somewhat irrational, just bear with me) it feels like a big computer = big things. Like I need to start working on big projects with big announcements and big results and big this and big that and that's just too much big. So, I'm 'playing small'. Still working from my old, small, comfortable laptop. And that's just no good for anybody.

So this weekend? No more playing small. I've been wanting/needing a new computer for ages. My trusty old laptop is on it's last legs and can't do the things I need/want it to do. Change is good. Change is important. Change means I can work on 'big projects', but only if I choose to. My playing small serves no one, especially the one who I want to glorify with my work.

No more playing small friends!! Who's with me??

If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,
no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.
When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

I've always loved Psalm 91:11, but on my journey through the Psalms this month, I read the whole of chapter 91. Not sure why it's never stood out to me before, but that last half is such a beautiful thought.

Hope your week is off to a good start :)

Anything Can Happen

Just a little something to keep in mind as you go about your week :)

Sometimes I think we get stuck, and we just start assuming what will happen without giving any other possibilities a chance (I'm so guilty of this!). And yes, sometimes what you think might happen will happen, but what if it didn't and you missed it? Don't let yourself be bogged down in assumptions - you never know what might surprise you :)

Useful & Beautiful

A lovely thought for the mid-week blahs :)

My to-do list today is growing by the minute - leaving tomorrow night to help prep for my camp's 50th anniversary and have way too much to do before then! Trying to remember to keep calm and not stress and whatever doesn't get done can wait until I'm back :)

Hope you're having a lovely (and sunny!!) week!

Encourage One Another

The world at large - and the world online - can often be so negative. Evil exists and is perpetuated for reasons that can't be understood. But even in the midst of all this, there is so much good. People encourage and pray and give and help and hold and wait and listen - kindness that can't be explained.

So even when the negativity seems too much, never forget to encourage one another. Sometimes a simple thought or prayer can mean everything to someone else.

Hope your week is full of lovely things :)

Better Things

I've always liked this quote (probably pinned it several times!) but I decided last week I needed to do something more with it. This photo has always been one of my favourites (taken by my BFF) and I knew immediately they'd make a beautiful pair.

I went into this design having a rough idea of what I wanted it to look like, and I must say, I think it turned out really beautifully. The gorgeous photo and simple solid text pair well (one of my favourite fonts lately - using it in so many of my projects!). I think I'm going to have to try and do more of these!

What do you think?

Why hello there!

Between camp & work this summer has been a little bit hectic for me. But in comparison to a very close friend of mine, it's been a breeze aha

In just over a week, she is embarking on an 11 month mission trip.

Eleven months. Like, what??

Part of me thinks she's a little nuts haha And part of me thinks that it is SO awesome. I'm in crazy admiration of  her courage and her faith. It will be a life-changing experience and I cannot wait to see how she grows & changes.

Today's post is dedicated to her. For all the adventures she is about to go through and for everything she is going to learn in this next year.

This verse was in a devotional email that I get and it so resonated with me today.

"Be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt!
For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9 LB)

You don't need to go around the world to experience adversity, it happens here in our everyday lives. But no matter where we are or what we're dealing with, we don't have to be afraid or discouraged. And that is something to encourage us all.

So here's to all the crazy adventures that life brings our way and the courage to deal with them all :)

Rearview Mirrors

Everyone goes through tough times at one point or another. And one day, maybe weeks, months, or years later, you will look back and maybe see the reason why. And it will all make sense, this often bumpy road called life.

But in the moment, sometimes it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. To see the good in the bad, the beauty in the ugly. But it is there, I promise you that. There is always something good on it's way :)

What is your favourite passage/verse/quote/book/thought that gets you through those tough times?
